Resilience, alternative routes & rates to avoid slowing down the logistics of a Tier 2
Automotive suppliers who decided to adapt their productions lines to the healthcare industry to stay on the market faced yet another challenge: managing to transport their supplies.
The contingency to stop COVID-19 had a severe impact over the automotive industry. To avoid disrupting the production line, many companies diversified their activities and also began to manufacture materials related to the healthcare sector.
This is what our client did. They’re a Tier 2 automotive company, dedicated to manufacture filters for air conditioning systems.
After deciding that they had the capacity to assembly respirator filters – sold out throughout the entire pandemic – the company had to face a new challenge: moving supplies from its provider’s warehouses in Chicago (IL), Houston (TX) and Atlanta (GA) to its plant in Lima, Peru’s capital.
When the Peruvian government decreed a state of national emergency, Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) was closed and practically all flights to the country were canceled.
Persistently in search of alternatives for our clients, our EP America teams developed a solution using Miami as a connection hub.
A smooth articulation between the experts in ground expedited in EP America and the local experts of EP Peru, -one of Europartners Group global brands- managed to develop a tailor-made plan for the Tier 2.
EP América kept direct contact with the supplier and was in charge of all the documentation, the organization of the dates and place of collection until delivering the goods to the carrier, transporting the cargo using guaranteed ground freight units to our warehouses in Miami, where it was consolidated to fly to Lima. First, they contacted the client to decide, in common agreement, if it was supposed to be a regular cargo or if it was necessary to activate an urgent shipment strategy. We are experts in critical cargo.
On other front, EP Peru team also worked to ensure that the inputs that the Tier 2 company usually receive from China never stop getting to its destination, either by maritime LCL or FCL.
Whenever you need a trustworthy freight forwarder to take care of your cargo to and from all over the world, our EP America teams are ready to find alternatives to avoid disruptions in your supply chain. We are there for you in 14 cities in the United States, two in Canada and 60 others all over the world
